Title: Help with OHMs
Post by: sharbono on June 12, 2010, 09:32:29 pm
I have an old Vox cab with unidentified speakers(2) wired in parallel. When I hook my Multimeter up to the speaker jack it reads 02.4 at 200 (not 200k). Is this enough info to tell how many ohms the cab is?  If not, what do I do?

Any advice would be great!

Please advise.

If I were to guess, I'd say your cabinet might be wired for 4 ohms.  (8 ohm speakers.) You said the speakers are unidentified, does that mean no markings or codes anywhere on them, or just no brand name like Jensen, HH, Celestion, CTS, etc?

Thank you so much for your response.  There is no label.  There are some numbers stamped on the speaker frame that are very hard to read (smeared) that I believe are 3-digits / 3-digits ...  000/000 (example).  I will open the cab up and find out for sure.

I think the speakers may be Fane's based strictly on appearance.

I will report back.
