So as a few of you may know, I am a Canuck. Most of the time its great, no need for refridgerators, lots of beer, the chicks wear sexy mukluks.
However, purchasing mp3 downloads is another story. Since Canada is lax on copyright laws, sites like Rhapsody, iTtunes, Amazon in the US wont let us poor hosers PAY FOR and download music. OK, fine. So I can purchase the CD which is easy... unless you are into esoteric blues. Looking for a Junior Watson CD, its going to cost me $75!! Sheesh!
But amazon.com has the same album, in mp3 download for $10.
So... I was wondering if I can impose on one of my fine American amp building associates. I send you a bunch of money (paypal, money order, US postal order, whatever...) and you buy a couple of mp3 albums for me and email me or put the files up on some free file hosting site...

That sucks, I did not know that about Canada.
Probably should do emails off the board if you hook up with someone.

So how is it they know you're from Canada - is it the billing address on the card you're paying with?
If so, and you live close to the border, maybe you could get one of those prepaid mastercard gift cards on this side of the line, and use that on Amazon to download the mp3 albums. I have no experience with this and have no idea if it will work, just a thought...

Hey thanks Boots. Yeah I checked into that. Its definitely an option.
They do it two ways:
(1) by the credit card you use (the prepaid master card will get around that)
(2) by IP address (a US based proxy service will get around that)
I gave it a whirl. I was having such a pain with the proxy service, I figured I would try this first.

Hey TON,
I just inherited a fortune in Canada, but need to convert it to current American dollar exchange rate. If I send you a check for $1,000,000 can you write me a check for $995,000? I'll let you keep $5,000 for your trouble and I will make you mp3's of anything you want - for FREE! Really, for FREE!
Your pal,
'Nit...er I mean Groundhog Ken

How could I guess that was coming...

hehehe! Sorry, I just could not resist! Nit made me do it! :angel
