Has any one here have any experience with these or should I keep trying to win a few nos tubes, I think electro harmonix makes one. Bill

You can't go wrong with EH 12AY7's--they are well behaved and sound good. They maintain brightness and clarity while cleaning up gritty preamp sounds. The NOS ones have been picked over for many years--only junk is left. Jim

the EH sound good, maybe i was unlucky but i had a lot of them go bad (they tend to get noisy)

Another vote for the EH12AY7s - I've never struck any problems with them to-date (touch wood), and they sound great

In all of my travels, I've only found a few original 12AY7's in NOS form for a reasonable price. Most of the pulls I've tried didn't last long. I've found the EH is a pretty decent tube. I bought an EH from Doug last week for my 5E5 based amp that I built, I tried 12AX7's and 12AT7's in the amp but the 12AY7 gave the best balance between "clean with guitar volume backed down" and overdrive when turned up.
In reality there aren't a lot of choices of 12AY7's out there, so I'm happy this one is decent.
