I've got a Taylor T5 with spruce top and the Taylor K4 preamp and BBE sonic maximizer. I've heard the Taylor T5s live and loved them. I don't seem to be able to get rid of a "tinny string sound" I adjust the treble and bass and just get too bassy. It's like a metallic string sound, too high and thin grating sound.. The guitar has a body sensor and two humbuckers/one under the neck....HELP! I want to keep this.
Granted I'm not playing through the best pa and also plug into a Fender tube amp at home, but that metallic thin string sound wouldn't be from those, I don't think. I've also plugged it into an old Acoustic 145 amp...same thing.

You might check to make sure you don't have a ball end stuck to one of the body sensors, but that usually sounds more like a buzzing. Also, make sure your batteries are good. Honestly, though, they all sound kind of tinny to me. Still, if you can't find a problem, take it to a Taylor warranty shop. They are EXCEPTIONAL about warranty work (I'm assuming you bought this new, but even if you didn't you should still take it in), and their electronics are unbelievably unreliable.
