Title: Carl Weathersby: ES-345 + Super Reverb = Tone-heaven
Post by: simonallaway on August 26, 2010, 02:18:49 pm
I just had the pleasure of listening to and chatting to Carl Weathersby. He plays in a blues band called Mississippi Heat. I work in downtown Chicago, and the owners of the building often hire bands to play (seemingly just for the hell of it). So I go down to the plaza for some fresh air and I hear the most beautiful blues tone coming from somewhere. I took some video on my phone of one of their tunes, and uploaded it to YouTube. (as is typical, the harp player doesn't know when to stop):

I spoke to Carl afterwards about his rig. It's a simple as it gets. His 345 in tone position one (like a Les Paul) straight into a BF Super Reverb. Bass and Middle on 3, Treble on 10. This is all through the Vibrato channel. The volume was on 8. He doesn't use the tone on the guitar, and volume up full for solos.

For me this is classic blues tone and is 90% of the reason I want to work my way up to building an amp such as that.
