I've enjoyed the Tweed Overdrive Special amp so much, I decided to convert my small combo amp into something headed that direction. It only has the 5879 in the OD section withOUT the OD triode that the TOS has.
Having said that, the sustain is close to comparable & it gets perhaps even more of that vowel squawk blues tone that you sometimes hear on the Billy G. stuff. It does NOT have the same sweet musical tone as the TOS does nor as nice of harmonics. The tone is a little more raw sounding especially with the 6V6's.
However, I was concerned about trying the TOS inside a small combo amp and running into oscillation problems so this was my compromise. The amp does have pretty decent reverb to it. I think this could be a decent amp that falls into the Deluxe 5E3 and Princeton Reverb tote-ability and size. IF you are wondering about building either the Tweed Overdrive Special vs. the Tweed OD Lite reverb ....... I would suggest the TOS if it's a head cab or a larger combo amp.
You can find a couple of soundclips here:
"Don't Want Me" is with 5881's and the rhythm and lead guitar are both Tweed Lite. Lead is not til about 2/3rds into the song.

"Storming Norming Monday" is with 6V6 and just the lead is the amp

My God!
Does your soldering iron ever cool down?
LOL I just finished up the mechanicals today on my TOS and here you've designed, built and recorded another amp
BTW it sounds amazing!

Wow that sounds really nice. I can hear the amp have that slight breakup in it but not harsh or too fuzzy. What PT and OT did you use for this build? Looks like im sold on this being my next project

You can use a PT that has about 275-0-275 with 150 ma and an OT that will support 6V6's or 5881's with 8 ohm speaker. I have an 8 ohm speaker hooked up to the 8ohm secondary. Hope that helps.
IF you're just going to use 6V6's (& not 5881's also) then I would think Hoffman's 18w PT and OT would work great. I've played both 6v6's and 5881's thru it and the 6V6's sound even smoother and have more sustain.
