Since doing a partscaster build, I decided to try my hand at making one from scratch.  I started with the tele-style neck, and the further I got into it, the more nervous I got, especially the fretwork!  When bolted onto a spare tele body, I was surprised and happy that it played very nicely.  Then came the body.  I wanted something different, so I opted for a dano body shape, but it is a solidbody (basswood) as opposed to the plywood/masonite that real danos are made out of.  I used Duplicolor metal specks paint with nitro lacquer clearcoat. 

Fun project, much like amp-building!

I'm a BIG fan of the Tele and seen a LOT of different takes on the design, but that is defiantly something I've not seen!

Was the paint Duplicolor from a spray can or mixed in a gun?  Either way the finish looks great.

It really is just a tele with a different body shape.  My original intention was to hog out chambers and put a masonite top on, but when I cut it to shape, it lost more weight than I thought, so I decided to just do a solidbody.

The finish is duplicolor from a rattle can, same for the clear lacquer.

I used a no-load tone pot, no treble bleed on this one, other than that it's standard wiring fed by an Am Std neck p'up and a '60's reissue bridge p'up (the one with staggered polepieces.)  The bridge is Fender brand with the threaded stainless steel saddles.  The nut is regular old bone.  edit:  yes, plenty twangy!
