S2 18 Watt Trannies for Sluckey AC15
« on: August 16, 2020, 12:44:52 pm »
Steve,
I'm buying parts for my Sluckey AC15 build and looking at the trannie specs I'm thinking I can use a pair of my left over S2 Amps 18 Watt trannies.  The S2 OT has an 8k ohm primary and the S2 PT has a 285V-285V HT secondary along with two 3.25A 6.3V secondaries.  Looks good to me.  What do you think? :dontknow:

Look like a perfect fit to me Barry. Don't forget you need a big high current choke too.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks Steve.  How about a Twin Reverb 90MA choke?

Bigger. Needs to handle the current for the entire amp. The actual measured  current draw on my AC-15 is 100mA. I suggest the Hammond 159P, 10H @ 125ma, DCR = 155Ω.

Shooter,
Very generous of you but I might have one in the shop somewhere that will meet the requirement.  I just need to go through some boxes.  I just found a Dagnal D2475 but haven't yet found the specs on the internet yet.  Still looking.  Iron has gotten so expensive.

Well I found a Hammond 193D  Only 8 Henrys but 150mA  The shop is a mess.  Who knows what's out there.
