Toroidal transformer in power supply.

Hi there,

I'm building a stereo lm1875 based amp for my ipod.
For the power supply, I have a 300VA toroidal transformer with 2x18v secondaries. It fits in the power supply enclosure without much space left, so I planned to place the psu circuitry on top of it. (Sry for the rough mspaint image).
Is it a good idea having the circuitry that close to the toroidal in that position? The magnetic field generated by the toroidal would perturb the rectified output signals?

Then I'll probably change the enclosure, but what are de disadvantages of placing the board on top?
Where would you recommend placing the circuit board instead?
