What glue do I use w the thermalloy 8908, TO-3 and transister

One last and final question.  Thanks alot.

Do you need to use a glue with these?    Does it go over the complete surface between the transister, the TO-3 and the heat sink or just edges. Seems like the screws would hold it all in place.  I assume just the edges with the Thermalloy 8909 cap.   What local product could I use...anything thats oil based??

Not glue! You use a heat sink compound. One type is a clear grease. Another is a white paste. Coat the bottom of the transistor and coat each side of the mica insulator. I prefer the white paste. It's messy.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

See PRR's reply in the other thermalloy thread:

So you really should fix it.

With amp OFF!, see if you can loosen the two screws. What you want to do is get the screws out but do NOT loosen the transistor from its mounting surface. It's stuck on with white goo, if it gets loose you really should take it off, clean it, and re-goo it (it's the same goo we use on PC CPUs). If the screws come out and the goo is undisturbed, just put the insulator on and tighten well.

White goo = thermal grease = heat sink compound
