A long long time ago say 1967

I was working for Sun Oil on the Oil Tankers

I was going up to New York from Philadelphia Pa on the New Jersey Turn Pike

There was this guy in an old Mercedes
Had sheet music on the dash and playing a guitar doing 70 MPH
I bet he is a big star now

[ no cell phones back then ]

I also saw a lady trying to back out of a parking spot trying to light a cigarette and using a cell phone

~> Did that when I had a Nextel electronic leash. It would make my computer speakers cluck and squawk about 3 seconds before a call came in...
This problem calls for a bigger hammer!

Did she have state offical/ judge plates? I've seen some real creative "driving" techniques out of those folks.
I have ATT and my phone makes this same type of racket when it's close to my pickups.

AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM (Global Standard for Mobile phones) phones which are on an identical frequency range.  All Mobile phones interfere with audio gear, but GSM phones have a pretty unique sound to their interference.

(I used to manage a shop that sold varying wireless technologies) I prefer GSM phones after trying them all.... but the old(er) CDMA (Sprint, Verizon, U.S. CEL) system has better rural coverage in the USA.

Nextel's used an IDEN standard, a similar interference noise but unique enough.

I have both T-Mobile and "chock, chock...tuka-tuk tuka-tuk tuka-tuk" when I'm on a call and the phone is near my computer speakers.
