power dampening
« on: November 15, 2011, 05:37:55 pm »
I did a power dampening mod on an amp a few years ago but I can't remember how I did it.(old age setting in)
I think I just out a 50k pot between the PI cathode resistor and the tube.
I liked the effect on the amp for lowering the volume. It did alter the tone but I never used it for really low volumes, just a throttle sort of on stage.
Anyone have any info on this? Memory and my crashed hard drive have failed me. :w2:

Look at page three. Just replace the switch and resistors with a 50K pot wired as a variable resistor.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

It will work, don't know if the result tone will be of your taste (that is a personal question), but it will work
