SE 12AT7 Using Reverb Transformer
« on: March 01, 2012, 11:04:20 am »
Hello,

I am wondering if anyone here has any experience building a low powered single ended amp running a 12AT7 through a reverb transformer. I've seen lots on the firefly builds but thats push pull.

Anything you can share would be great.

Cheers,

Neill

I've connected a speaker to the reverb driver output in a Fender AB763 for testing purposes. Does that count?  :icon_biggrin:

That would be the equivalent of a Fender AB763 front end into a tiny SE output. I was looking for a go/no go situation and didn't really listen to the sound quality much, although I seem to remember a kinda thin sound. That could be due to the 500pf coupling cap to the driver input. And that reverb transformer probably wasn't designed with bass response in mind. Probably could be tweaked to sound decent in the bedroom though.

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Didn't PRR post a .33 Watt amp schematic using a 12AX7 output tube and a reverb transformer a couple of years ago?
