Convert my el 84 ga5 to 6v6 ?
« on: November 18, 2013, 01:03:58 pm »
OK, I'am ready to do this conversion. I would like to convert My GA-5 EL 84 to use a 6v6 I. Believe I have the wiring change in order. Not 100% on the resisters? I believe I will need to change the 250 OHM 5 watt r to a 470 OHM 5 watt and not sure on the 1k 5 water. My original build is the Schedule 40 ga-5 . Would I need to change any thing else.

Thanks JT

Obviously the socket and pin numbers are very different, EL84 to 6V6.

The cathode bias resistor should be around 1.8 times higher; 470 is a fine value. I assume the 1K is the G2 (screen) resistor and 1K is fine here.
