Been thinking hard on this one........

I posted this picture on another thread.  But, this belongs to one of my little project bikes, that's gone way too long without attention. 
 

 
It belongs to my '42 WLA, that I bought back in the Fall of '75.  For some reason, that was a good year for deals.  Got my '67 ServiCar, and my '47 Indian Chief that same Fall.  Anyway, I acquired the WLA for $200 as a basket case.  It's missing the original sheet metal (tanks, fenders, etc.), but I've managed to squirrel away some of them over the years.  I haven't been able to ride in the past 2 or 3 years, as my '59 FLH is kickstart, only.  And, my right knee swells when I do crank it.  Before I parked it in the shop, it cranked good and ran good.  But, as is with anything that hurts.  You tend not to do whatever creates pain, very often. 
 
That being said, the 45 cu-in is considered to be a kickstart bike, but really, you only have to just stepstart it.  And if it's well muffled, you have to listen hard to know that it's running.  My ServiCar was like that, though it's electric start.  It's out of commission, with a bent frame that makes it very unsafe to ride at highway speeds.  The Durham city police made a habit of wrecking this one on a regular basis, before I rescued it.
 
But, I've been really thinking about warming this project up, again.  Even if I only ride it back and forth to work.  3-speed hand-shift, foot-clutch.  The most underpowered V-Twin that Harley ever made.  But, little work horses, that will carry you anywhere that you want to go. 
 
Not sure when I'll start dragging these components out again.  But, I'll post pictures as I do.
