Fender twin reverb send as effects loop

i'm sure I've read how to do this on this forum before, but I can't find the post.


I want to run my strymon bluesky in place of the reverb tank. I read something describing a resistor to make sure the reverb transformer sees the correct load. Anybody done this?

I guess nobody has done this because there are no replies.  I haven't done it either, but I can throw some points out there for consideration and then you will have at least one reply.

Your Strymon has a maximum input of 8 dBu which is something like 2.75 Vp on my slide rule.  The reverb driver puts out way more than this.

The frequency response coming out of the driver is restricted because it is meant for a tank.

The quality of the signal is low.

I'm sure this one will make the folks here howl "heresy", but I think the signal going to the driver is too hot and causes the driver to clip when you really get on it.  Not what you want in an effects send.


You don't need both halves of the 12AT7 to drive the reverb, one half will drive it just fine.  This can free up the other half for any one of a zillion effects loop designs.  Or you could do a really simple and easy one like the one attached if you are really set on using the reverb circuitry.
