OT secondary question
« on: June 19, 2015, 09:45:48 am »
I have an unidentifiable OT for a PP application with two secondaries, one yellow, one green wire. I'm sure one is 4 ohms the other 8ohms, is there a method to test which is which?

The OT is not in an amp. The location of the secondaries in relation to the ground wire doesn't help. Any method available with the OT out of an amp or in for that matter?

thanks,
al

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

If your ohmmeter is able to measure low resistances you can measure the resistance of the two windings, the higher reistance is the higher impedance

Thanks, both the winding ratio and the low oms reading reflected the green sec. to be the 8 ohm tap.
