10% taper vs 30% taper on vol/tone pot
« on: September 23, 2015, 03:39:13 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm thinking of upgrading the cheap pots on my tele to CTS 250k log pots. Which taper should I choose?

Would 30% taper tone pot turn the sound faster or slower to mud?

...and which taper pots were used on the early teles?

TIA

Pretty sure the standard is 30%, but I'm not totally sure.  I tend to think in terms of "CTS" taper, and "Dimarzio" taper.  And in truth, I don't find the difference particularly important, but then I don't do a lot of swells with my volume knob, but use a volume pedal instead.
