New AT&T Router caused me hours of grief!!!

My new amp build was motorboating.

I searched for hours looking for the cause.

AT&T installed a new router in my shop a few days ago which turned out to be the cause of all my problems. I was not here when the router was installed. They placed it under my workbench. Even had I been here I might not have given it much thought.

Things like this are enough to drive you crazy.

Believe me, I know that kind of pain, in my garage I have really bad power, some days it's just fine, others I get mad hum for no reason.. .upstairs, its fine.

I guess we all get into some issue that is truly perplexing at times. My issue is that I lack the skills and perhaps the proper equipment to analyze circuits correctly and to have a high level of confidence that they are correctly constructed. I have only built a few amps and I am pretty new to electronics in general.

Lack of self confidence and experience can lead anyone astray and can produce some pretty severe consternation...lol Becoming emotionally involved in the troubleshooting process only compounds the issue...lol I don't have enough hair left to be pulling it out...lol 

There is generally always an upside to tough issues. I always wind up learning something new but the learning process gets to be a bit painful at times.

I don't know anyone where I live who is interested in electronics so I have never had the advantage of having someone set down beside me and show me stuff. Digging everything out of books and the internet is most likely not the easiest way to learn. Also, not having a good grounding in mathematics further complicates my ability to learn this stuff.   

I often wish I could find someone who has a good skype connection that I could communicate with and would have the time to give me some hands on guidance using an oscilloscope for example.

The Navy used a sink or swim approach to teaching electronics, was a self paced,(with a time limit), - *teach yourself*, the program was called BEEP, now NEET.  It's out there on the web, if you have the desire.  You will have a great start on DC and AC electronic concepts/theory.  Dougs library is well stocked.  With time and accumulated knowledge, skies the limit
