Orange master-volume installation
« on: March 09, 2017, 06:02:09 am »
Hi!
Hate working with PCBs, but I'm about to add a master volume into a Orange Rockverb 50watt bought in 2014.
The guy wants to keep as much original tone as possible, while being able to play quieter.

I was thinking about adding the attached PPIMV, which I added to several amps with great success. Do you think it would be a good idea in this particular design? Any better positions for a MV which you may think of?
I don't have much experience with orange amps, I'm afraid ...

Thank you!!

Looks fine to me.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Great , thanks Sluckey.

This amp is pretty crowded,  now let's see where I install the pot. Wouldn't want to drill an extra hole in chassis if possible

This amp's dirty channel is a monster!! It was too loud indeed.
The MV is a nice addition to the clean channel, and IMO really useful in the dirty channel to play at home or small venues. The three volume controls make the amp much more versatile now.

Just wanted to let you know it worked great, and share a WIP picture. Not a hard mod to perform.
Used a 680nF cap instead of x10 cap to shelve a little bass as well.

Thanks,
Fran
