Channel switching
« on: September 11, 2017, 10:09:18 am »
So I'm building this amp that has 1 input & 2 channels. I want to switch them before the phase inverter. Should I ground the unused channel ? I see some do, some don't. Or should I use only one side of the DPDT relay ?

I'm pretty sure I read in a previous thread that someone said the easiest way is to just ground the channel, yes.  That way you send the signal out of the circuit completely.  I'm planning an amp with switching and that's my plan as well, have A or B channels or both, and if 'off' its just shunting the signal to ground.

I only have 1 relay. I could do something like this but from what I read, switching at the input isn't recommended.

I have three amps that have switching at the input, AC-15, Dual Lite, and Supro 6424. You can see how I did it on my website. I don't have any problems.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
