I just remembered that some time ago I've read an interesting thread about the conversion of some Tube circuits to Solid State

I think this can be useful when you want to build a small amp but the "donor" circuit has not enough heater current to feed all the tube you require

there are schematics like this

the link is here

http://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=24287

and attached you can find a pdf file with the schematics present on that thread

I already did a thread on those :icon_biggrin:

Franco, I just faced that dilemma! my mono block build is about an amp short.  I "fixed" it by stealing from Peter to make Paul   I still have a 60W SS PA, just in case :icon_biggrin:

This thing come to my mind after reading the 6an8 thread

http://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=23081.0

because of the low gain of the triode available for the pre section

no other reasons

This will be a solution on a tube amp, no SS amp stuff ........

Philosophical question, how much ss stuff can you put in amp and still call it tube amp?

To me ...... a single "piece"

V1 or SF or FXLoop, may be PI

but only one at a time

the only one I can accept without too much effort, is SF
