Chinese Super Blues AT-30 schematic?
« on: July 22, 2018, 08:59:10 am »
Hey all. Haven't been back here in quite a while. I bought a used 30W 6L6 amp yesterday with reverb for $200.00. I can't find a schematic for it anywhere and I was hoping you guys could help. It's a Chinese version of an Vox AC30(I think) that they call a Super Blues AT-30. They are packaged under various different names but use the same chassis, PCB etc. Mine's an older model but I don't know the exact year. It's the same size as a Blue Jr. The board says Super Blues AT-30_2 Made by Boston 20040503 Design by ZHAOJIAN TEL: +86 022 86351181 WWW.YAJIAMUSIC.com 20050423. Anyone have a line on any technical data/schematics etc.? Thanks!
This is a recent incarnation but mine is probably 10 years old or so...

Without a schematic, it's really hard to say, those both use 6L6 output tubes which is NOT like an AC30, but potentially more like a fender, but they may have cloned the AC30 preamp circuit and stuck it into a 6L6 output stage.

If you can't find a schematic you'll need to reverse engineer it to know for sure OR take detailed pics of the guts in any angle you can think of and maybe someone here would be willing to look it over.

Thanks Phil. Hopefully a schematic can be found so it won't need reverse engineering. After playing the amp a bit I've found that it's very much like a Fender Blues Deluxe in a Blues Jr sized cabinet. The previous owner put a Eminence Patriot Texas Heat 150W speaker in it which is WAY too much speaker for this 30W amp. I have a vintage Fane 50W driver that I'll try in it next but will probably look for a Vintage 30 or other lower wattage speaker for it. This weekend I'll put in the Fane and report back.

Update: Replaced the 150W Texas Heat speaker with the 50W Fane and cleaned the tolex/faceplate and knobs and reassembled. After playing it for a while I'm EXTREMELY happy with this little amp. Everything works and the 2 spring reverb was replaced by the last owner with a 3 spring and the reverb is lush. The MDF Blues Jr sized cabinet isn't the greatest choice of materials but it works for me right as a living room amp. The Fane(70's) speaker needs a recone so I siliconed the edges and I'm surprised how good it sounds in this little amp. Responsive, non distorted with a good bite when pushed. I got lucky I suppose. I'm going sell the Eminence Texas heat for $50 and now I have a Blues Jr/Deluxe Reverb(ish) amp for $150 total. Ain't Craig's List 'da bomb? I still need to track down a schematic for future repairs and possible mods. Thanks for any help guys.
