Eminence speakers mountung holes - not compatible
« on: November 29, 2018, 07:10:29 pm »
Not with another brands but within Emi models.. Wonder who had experienced this. I have bought several Emi speakers, 10s and 12s, most of the mounting holes are always slightly off from one model to another. The worst was when I replaced CV75 with 1258 - it seems like a 1258's outer diameter is about 5mm smaller. I ended up having to drill all the new holes for that one.

I don't get it. The inconsistency is unusual for a (seem to be) reliable company..

I only have one eminence speaker, 15" Big Ben. It fit perfectly in my Ampeg Super Reverb, model R15-R cab.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I have so many reasons to like them, although not the best sounding ones out there but they're the easiest ones to find over here and reliable - sounding wise.. I've also emailed them regarding this issue now waiting for their answer. This time is probably my last time with them.. Considering Alnico blue next.

Just FYI, I emailed them and they replied, basically they outsourced the frame and yes they've admitted and apologized that they are not all compatible.

Yeah, I have four of their speakers, one of them has whacky aligned holes.

The 3 that don't, all twelves,  are wizard, Texas heat, and swamp thang.  They are stamped steel frames.

The wonky one that I have is a 200 watt twelve inch legend. It is cast (aluminum?) Frame. I kinda figured it had to do with being a cast frame. It's the only cast one I've ever had.

So the label, and wiring posts are at a 45-ish degree angle in the cab. I'm not disassembling the baffle just to make it vertically line up.  :icon_biggrin:
