Capacitor Types

I have a newbie question regarding different types of capacitors. I was comparing the parts lists for the 50 watt Plexi and the 6v6 Plexi. I noticed that the 50 watt uses more electrolytic type capacitors, while the 6v6 build uses more mylar type capacitors. Is this strictly due to the smaller space available on the 6v6 board and chassis? Is there a difference in sound between the 2 types of capacitors? The reason I ask is because, if I attempt the amp build myself, I was going to follow the step by step Metropolous directions for a 50 watt Plexi and just substitute some of the 6v6 values.

I apologize for my complete lack of knowledge about amp building. I'm trying to learn.

No. It's due to circuit design. The two circuits are similar but have slight differences. The two types of caps you mention have very different functions in a tube amp. You can't really compare sound differences.

Following the step by step Metropolous directions may get you in trouble if building a Hoffman circuit. Hoffman's circuits requires a certain amount of electronic familiarity. There are no step by step instructions. If you need step by step instructions you may want to build the kit those instructions were written for. Metropolus instructions are meant for Metropolus amps. Mojo instructions are meant for Mojo kits. Don't mix and match instructions for different amps.
