New Reverb tank on fender amp
« on: September 17, 2020, 03:52:04 pm »
Hey guys,
Someone already noticed some issues with a new reverb tank? I wanted to change the tank of my old super reverb but it sounds completely not like an original tank. It is way to dark and cavernous. Nothing compare to the original. I tried a mod, tad 4ab3c1b and also a mod 8ab3c1b and a 8ab2c1b. All is really not accurate.. any help? 🙏🙏🙏

Maybe you would like the Accutronics 4AB3C1B better.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I feel your pain.I have a 10 year old accutronics that sounds great. Far better than any of the current production tanks from the three known makers. My ears hear a metallic "KLANG" from new tanks. I would look for a used "made in USA" Accutronics tank. Or if you are incredibly lucky a 1960's "Gibbs made in Milton or Janesville, WI by beautiful girls" tank. I'm still lookin...
