Greetings everybody.
I'm a SWM looking for some hot amplifier action for weekend fun. I've been known to enjoy guitars, guns, beer and anything with gasoline and oil on or in it.
I spent 25 years in the CATV world. Most years were in management. I started in the field way back when it was 33 blazing channels of analog, and made it through to the digital side with internet, phone, alarms and more TV than a person could ever watch. After a company buy out myself and several hundred others were given the generous choice of a taking a voluntary exit package with money or an involuntary boot to the curb. I guess I'm retired now even though it doesn't feel like it.
To stay busy I agreed to help a friend open a business selling a line of very adult toys. We provide guns, knives, ammo and other destructive devices to LEO's. No corporate crap to deal with and it's fun but I miss tinkering with technology.
I have enough digital gadgets but what I enjoy most is analog. Engineers from 60+ years ago used pencil, paper and imagination to design some of the finest musical equipment on the planet. I'd just like to study and learn what I can about some of their work.
I'm practically a noob at analog but I did build a 5F2A as my first amp which turned out very well and now I'm in the early stages of starting my second amp. I have a Hammond AO-29 and will be searching the forum for ideas and hopefully soak up some knowledge from the experts.
I can't promise I won't ask a dumb question but I will use the search feature first.
Thanks, Randy
