110V pilot lamp light
« on: August 26, 2020, 02:19:09 pm »
Hello,

I am wiring a lamp light that is a 110v. the power switch I am using is a DPDT with 6 pins. How the wiring should be! I know it is a novice questions, but as usual you have been very helpful.

Thank you

The pilot lamp wires will connect to the PT primary wires.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I am using a 6 pin dpdt. pin 3 is connected to the load + from the AC current. and 5 is connected with the Black primary winding side, of the PT. I works fine as it is.

when I connect the lamp to these same pins; the comes on immediately even without switching on the SW. then it goes off when I turn the amp on.

How should wiring be in this situation!

Thanks.

I normally wire dpdt switches as:   AC hot (normally black wire) to pin 3, AC neutral (normally white wire) to pin 4. Then pin 1 or 5 to the transformer hot and pin 4 to either pin 2 or 6 of the transformer neutral. Hard to say which transformer wire without knowing which xformer you have..Select pin 1 or 5 and pin 2 or 6 according which position you want your actuator in when you switch on or off. The light goes to either 1 or 5 for one lead and either 2 or 6 for the other lead. The light is in parallel with mains wiring. Appears you have you switch wired as a spst switch. What are you doing with the neutral lead from the AC mains and the second primary lead from the xformer?

You may have stumbled upon a solution to red light phobia.  You know the one where a guitar player just totally smokes it right up until the red "record" light comes on.  Then he plays like he was 13 years old and just took up guitar last week.

I bet we could use that idea to come up with something useful, like an indicator fuse holder that lights up when the fuse is blown.

Boy, I bet some of those guys who replaced their power transformers could have benefitted from that.

This is how I would connect that mains power switch and indicator...
