Static on the Reverb troubleshooting
« on: August 21, 2021, 05:49:49 pm »
Ok so i got this Fender Concert Amp. I opened it up and cleaned all the pots, checked all the solder joints and caps its looking and sounding great. When i use the reverb, static comes in and gets louder as i turn the reverb level up. I took out the tank and cleaned all the connections as well as swapped cables but no go. I dont have a new set of 12AT7's on hand but i did swap for some other 12AX7, 12AY7 tubes i had to test but no effect the static still comes on with the reverb. The guitar and channel volumes have no effect this static is somewhere in the reverb circuit.  The reverb does work and sounds good but the static is prominent.

Try re-tensioning the tube socket pin clamps in the reverb stages (with a small jewellers screwdriver - with the amp off and the filter caps discharged). Otherwise look for a cracked/cold solder joint around the reverb circuit by chop-sticking
A bus stops at a bus station. A train stops at a train station. On my desk, I have a work station.

the reverb tubes aren't particularly loose and i did clean all the tube sockets with DeToxit. I have ordered a new set of 12AT7's and a MOD tank. I have my doubts it will fix the problem though. Chop sticked everything i could but no dice
