building a resonator
« on: November 11, 2021, 04:59:21 am »
hello all ,
having a 80's Aria guitar sleeping from decades in the attic, and none of my children were starting to play guitar, i decided to give her a second life as a resonator.
then i ordered all the material somewhere in the far East

first thing before dismantling is to keep the right position for the future bridge saddle

then removing the bridge the pickguard and sanding the table

next is cutting the table and the holes (i changed from usual f-holes)

time to make the wooden ring to support the cone. made a very simple compass on my old router

the result:

glueing to the body

need to stength thanks to 6 poles

finishing : varnish and pick-up installation

now time to control the bottleneck
the mike is a bit too loud and do not give the resonator specific sound but i won't spend hundreds € for the most appropriate one.
