Texas Specials issues
« on: July 23, 2022, 12:51:40 pm »
Set of older Fender Texas Specials, 30 years old, middle p/u is very weak sounding as if vol is halfway down but reads correct at switch and p/u 6.3, Bridge drifted from 6.6 up to 7.6 and neck is down to 5.6 from 6.3.
Both neck and bridge work ok but bridge alone is a little brittle sounding on highs. As mentioned middle is very weak, 2 and 4 weak as well.
I reflowed  all solder points on pickups and switch, sprayed switch well, pots too, standard Fender stock switch. Wiring good.
Assembled same as before.
Does this seem like 30 years of crud and corrosion took it’s toll, rewind time or anything else l can try..? Thanks in advance.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

They say magnets take 300 years to go bad..? Thanks for your reply, most likely corrosion from beer, sweat, etc.

It would be odd, if a phase issue entered into it.
