Power tube tremolo pot failure precaution
« on: December 09, 2022, 12:03:37 am »
When using a Princeton style output tube bias tremolo, I was considering wiring a large resistor from the wiper to the ground lug on the intensity pot.

My thinking is that is would act as a backup ground reference for the output tubes in-case the pot fails, the same way a resistor is added to post phase inverter master volume pots.

cheap protective measure or any reason not to?

Do you have a cathode biased PR? All I've ever seen were fixed bias. Either way, still a good idea.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks for the responses guys!

Sluckey, the amp I’m currently building is cathode biased.
