 6G3 Deluxe Ptrans
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a old hammond ptrans with 600ct vac 150ma output.
I'm not sure what a stock deluxe ptrans puts out. I've heard
that they run 6V6's a little hot. thought I'd ask b/4 trying it out,300vac seems a bit low. Thanks

I got the amp upand running and it sounds great! I played it for about an hour , a little over half volume. bias = -26v/41ma
and all other voltages seem ok. chassis was not mounted in the cabinet. after turning the amp off I felt the power trans
and it seemed to be too hot. But have never grabbed my power trans right after playing for a hour. anybody ever measure the temperature of a power trans after playing that long? Just thought I'd ask.

That trans, with a GZ 34, will get you around 390V.
Maybe a little hot for 6V6s, but there are some out there hotter.

The schematic I have shows 333 per leg of the secondary with 375 off the GZ34, which doesn't really figure unless it was a low current PT.

You'll get about 390-395 loaded off the rectifier like 6G6 said. Personally, I like the sound of EH 6V6s at 390V (I'll bet the new JJs are even better). I built a hopped-up 6G2 circuit that runs at 382V and sounds great.

thanks for the info. all you guys on this forum are the greatest .I've been reading thisforum for awhile now, and have had most of my questions answered . I really didnt think that there were many people still interested in tubes. I guess
I needed to put "tube amps "SEARCH sooner.
