Hello! I’ve been lurking for a while, trying to learn from the many amazing people here, and thought I’d introduce myself.

My name is Stephen, and I’m family guy, married 25 years with 2 almost adult children, and a cocker spaniel. For the last 37 years I’ve played guitar in a band called Descendents, and I’ve worked in recording studios for a good part of that time as well. I’m very much a novice, but very interested in learning to work on and build guitar amps.

Hi Stephen,

Two years ago, I was right where you are now.  Since then I've built three amps, getting ready for a fourth, and all due to the help I've gotten on this site.  If you're sure you understand the risky bits, just dive in and build something.  Lots of resources here.  Also check out Rob Robinette's site and The Valve Wizard if you haven't already.
