Tuning a half-step down

I was reading the LP forum and this subject came up and it was enlightening saying most pros do it mainly for the vocalist.


then there was this reply    just had to laugh 


"You'll make your life easier playing with brass players and piss off harmonica players. Both of these may well be desirable objectives IMHO. "

Horn player and Keyboardist seem to like to play in Ed, Bd and such. Tuning down a half of step will put you on more recognizable notch on your Guitar neck

Last thing I'd want to do, is piss off the harmonica player. They're so hard to come by  I think a harmonica player in a rock/blues band is just so awesome:  Dr. Feelgood, James Cotton, The Nighthawks, Sonny Boy Williamson, or You Don't Love Me (yes I know) cover by the Allman Bros. Live at Fillmore East. Just to name a few... I don't think any of these bands tuned down a half-step. Now I know why
