Hi all.
My name is Matt. I'm a Gen X Aussie, and even though I've worked in tech my whole life, I'll be finishing up my B.Eng (EE) at the end of the year. Even though I have a lot of theory and math, I consider that I lack the practical experience in putting everything together into a larger design. We really only briefly touch on small signal processing with BJTs, op-amps, and FETs, so I still have a lot to learn and am starting from almost zero knowledge with tubes.
As an on-off musician since my teens, I've always been fascinated by tube amps. I started making a tube preamp about 20 years ago and figured I can use the transformer from a wall wart to get my B+. I chickened out when it came to assembly as I was worried about safely working with 300V.

I play both guitar and bass although I prefer bass. Most of my discussion will probably fall around bass amps and tube amp power supplies. I'm currently eyeing Doug's tube preamp pedal as a beginner level project once my studies are complete. For now I'm mostly spending my spare time reading about tubes and looking over schematics and redrawing a few in KiCad for the practice.
Lastly, Doug, if you are reading this, thanks for a great site! There is so much information and it has obviously been a labour of love for you. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.

Cheers!
Matt
