Peavey Classic VT output jacks
« on: July 13, 2024, 06:27:45 am »
I got one of these for dirt cheap recently. At first it did sound very anemic. But after playing it through a decent speaker cab I gotta say that it sounds quite nice and has enough dynamics to allow riding the guitars volume knob.

I have some 12" speakers laying around, but they're all 8Ω, rather than the original 16Ω speakers.

Do I have it right that using the AUX jack disconnects the 8Ω tap and it should be ok to use the AUX jack only?

the AUX does disconnect the main speaker, however the AUX tap is 4 ohms, so you need 2 of your 12"-8ohms in parallel for 4 ohms
Went Class C for efficiency

your schematic shows the Main speaker tap IS 8ohms

Yeah, it's a 212 wired in parallel. So 2 8Ω speakers in parallel wired to the 4Ω tap is what I plan to use.

Thanks 👍
