 Power and Standby Switches
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Does anybody know why the power and standby switches from years ago to today have switched from SPST switches to DPST switches? Is this a safety issue? The DPST switches are certainly more expensive, so there must be a decent reason.

 I always use carling spst, Doug has them, so does Mouser.

 There's no reason for the standby switch to be double pole. If you use a DPST switch for the AC power switch, you can switch both the hot and the neutral connections. If the neutral lead is just wired directly to one side of the power transformer there will always be around 30 to 35 VAC on the power transformer, even when the power switch is off.

 Andy is correct. British amps and other countries made it code. If a AC wall socket is wired incorrectly, you have 120ac on the tranny windings. It's just safer to switch both neutral and hot. If a lightning bolt (or other nasty spikes) sent a surge through, your chances of damage is greater....My 2 cents....
