 Twin Reverb Problems
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, I just signed up to this board and am wondering if anyone can help me with a recent problem. I have '68 Fender Twin Reverb that has been blackfaced and didn't really give me problems until about a month ago. When I go to practice with with my band now, if my twin is on and someone else turns on their amp, my amp starts to move the speakers in and out rapidly for a few seconds. This also happens when the whole band is playing, but not if I play solo through the amp. I have replaced the filter caps and the rectifier, as well as moving the amp and placing it on a different circut from the rest of the amps, pa etc....anybody have any ideas as to what may be causing this?

If it doesn't allready have a three prong cord on it I would install one and then check all the grounding points in the amp.
Does this happen in every building you play or just the same place?

Maybe there is too much feedback. Try disconnecting the feedback resistor from the speaker jack and see if the oscillation stops.

Thanks for the replies. I had a three prong plug installed a while back. The ground seems to be good throughout the amp. The filter cap replacement seemd to lessen the problem a little....again, no problems at my apartment by myself or in my band's rehersal space as long as I'm playing thrugh the amp when no one else is playing....as soon as the whole band plays, the speakers start moving in and out....the whole thing is erratic...I think it happens more on the lower notes I play. I disconnected the negative feedback resistor and the problem got worse.....I'm going to try to up the value and see if that does anything....
