Hack attempt
« on: January 27, 2010, 10:08:05 pm »
Hey Doug.  last night I had a hack attempt.  Terminater.exe  ( something) BVO
fortunatly my firewall, antivirus, spyware. etc. caught it.
had to run some scans and fixed it pronto.. I have your site as my homepage.
could this be related? I never been hacked before. 11yrs online..
Anyone elsehave a problem? thanks.

I think it was Tues night that I got a Norton popup saying my computer had been unsuccessfully attacked. Nothing since then though.

With respect, Tubenit

Not sure if hacked but very odd.
I am using Foxfire and I got a warning screen when I went to the forum; "reported attack site"
I emailed Doug about it.
I bypassed the warning screen.

I am now a bit concerned about my computer (OSX).
Since then it has been booting up very slow.
Maybe/hoping it's not related.

I doubt that viewing the forum caused any damage to your computer.
I believe you would have to agree to install some sort of browser add on like an active-X program.

I run MalwareBytes on all my computers here and nothing has come up on any of the computers that I browsed the forum on.

I am still not sure exactly what the nature of the attack was.
I have not found any info on the web yet
Some files has been changed that screwed up the forum

If you want to scan your computer for free go to any of the free virus scan web sites and do a thorouh scan.

I've had a few "trojan" type things. but the Avast anti virus took care of them. Too bad there isn't long jail time for these people who do this stuff, when they are caught.  They deserve to be somebody's "girlfriend"
I'll never figure this out......
