Where to plug in a Overdrive/Distortion on a Marshall?
« on: June 04, 2010, 11:21:32 pm »
Whats best, to run the TubeScreamer into the 'Low Gain' or 'High Gain' input ? I have a 2204 JMP Vertical input.
Aside form the 'Screamer I use a Boss OD-1 and a Marshall Shredmaster at different times.

I have a 2204 JMP Vertical input too and I use my TS into the Hi input. I find the Low input very weak in comparison, and not usable. But it'll take you 10 seconds to decide for yourself on what sounds great to you (i.e. don't take my word for it)

I try and make sure I get at least a good clean sound before adding distortion. The correct balance of pre-amp and master volume will give me an amp that feels "alive" with some good punch. The "clean sweetspot", so to speak. Or maybe even dial in a bit of crunch. Either way, make it sound good first, THEN add the pedal.
