Want to add a pick up to my "fake" Gibson Jazzbox
« on: November 11, 2013, 01:36:38 pm »
This is a S101 big hollow body that I have a couple of classic 57s on.  It's really not bad.  Maybe like an L5. In any case I picked up a Bill Lawrence chrome acoustic guitar pick up and really like blending that with the neck pick up when it's placed between the bridge and neck pick up as normal...a nice clean clean sound.  How could I wire that Bill lawrence so that it would have a volume and not interfere with the other pick ups.  I already have a master volume added on the pickguard with a small black knob.

One idea I had was a miniswitch somewhere hidden to switch between the lawrence and the bridge.  Anything slicker?  (preferably cheap)

Thanks, Terry

Wire the volume control like a Jazz Bass volume control.  There are a lot of schematics out there, but basically, the pickup goes to the wiper (center lug), ground goes where it usually does, and the other end of the control goes to the output.

Thanks.  thats super cool.  I'm thinking/hoping that will get my third pick up on board without screwing the others up.
