i've been fooling w/this amp for way too long, and am suitably happy with it. at least enough to the point where I'd like to box it up---play out on it, see how it responds in group context.
Maybe never have to remove chassis again-HaHaHaHa, like that would ever happen, (endless tinkerer)
Question being, what are anyone's thoughts as to the best place to 'steal power' from, for my Combo version of this amp, to run two small computer fans. I think they're listed as 5v. a piece. If memory serves me, I think they were pulling 6.5, +,- together off a 12v wall wart, which I would rather not use, but can use, if thought best. Self containment would take backseat to benefits of cooler caps,etc...
I noticed the head version comes w/fan, which would be easy addition at p.c. rear, but looks to be a.c. wall I think, and I have 2 small 5v., d.c. computer fans that fit space well, are suitably quiet, (would probably add on/off, for recording.
Other semi related question, I have been trying out both THD Yellow Jackets, and GT Substi-tubes?, ...Tube bases that allow running EL84s in a 6L6, or other 8pin, octal base, and have seen similar amps, and other makers amps slightly distort the bases-(the el84 addition doo dads, not the amps tube base)
and while amp seems to be O.K., save for added heat that should be taken care of w/fans, are they're any issues I should be aware of?. amp schematics, and layout are on site, and probably better viewed by looking up from here as opposed to me attaching them, as they are not super clear to begin with.
