got transformers! What should i build?

I have a Ampeg reverbrocket circa 1966 gs-r.It belonged to my uncle and has been up in his attic for years.Im an electronics tech by trade and work for  The F.A.A..I play guiar and know how tubes work.Imthinking of using the PT and OT in a fender reverb type  build from scratch .TThe ampeg used a SS diode bridge for recification instead of a tube.ANY suggestions Thanks.

Why would you not try to rebuild the R-rocket as a R-rocket? In other words, stock, as the thing it is. Those were pretty cool little amps, a little different from Fenders; perhaps a little cleaner, still a cute little tube amp, nothing wrong with it/them at all. 


I think that's the consensus suggestion you'll get from the forum. For a first project....my vote would be to restore it to stock.

I'm not familiar with that specific amp, but I am curious why you want to pull the trannies from a vintage 1966 amp? Do you have some pics for us? My opinion is keep the vintage stuff stock and running. If you want to build an amp, try one of the many flavors that have been discussed here tell us what you built.

rebuild it as restoration. if you don't like it then flip it for new parts that fit what you really want to build.

Even if an Ampeg has a burnt power transformer (as "mine" did), it's worth fixing like-stock.

The world is full of Fenders and Fender copy-cats; we need other flavors also.
