Okay here's the first recording I've done with it.
Its three audio samples in a row, all on top boost channel, cut at maybe 2, bass at 3 and treble at 6
1. With my Epiphone ES330 PRO with P90's at about 3 volume. its the noisy one. I don't know why its so bad but I need to get that almost brand new guitar checked out.
2. With my Gibson SG at the same volume for the clean tone
3. Same SG with volume up at 6-7 here you get the nice crunch but if I just play a bit softer, it gets a bit cleaner.
I really like the tone of the amp, its got a dark moody deep side, and then of course the jangly higher end, I'm not 100% sure its totally got the vox tone, but I think some of that also comes from a plate reverb that usually is being played with it. I still love the tone. I'm playing with my BOSS GT-10 to get it dialed in as well, but its been a bit tricky getting it to play well with it, (its noisy as hell.)
Thoughts? I'm thinking this is fine at 175 ohms, and don't know if I even want to back down to the 125 or try out 100 and 150 at this point because it sounds about perfect. It is still REALLY loud too at just 6-7 and when I put it to 10 the whole house shakes and makes the animals run for their lives :) I think it qualifes as a real 11 volume! :D
https://soundcloud.com/pompeiisneaks/voxac30Edit: Oh two things I forgot. 1. the sg was out of tune and tuned to a whole step down or D standard, and my noodling wasn't the best, but I wasn't going for more than one take to give an idea ;)
