bjr conversion - bridge rectifier mounting
« on: February 24, 2018, 07:24:50 pm »
Looking at this picture
http://el34world.com/Hoffman/images/Img_8786.jpg

it looks like the idea is to mount the bridge rectifier upside down and bend the wire legs over to attach to the lugs for B+ and ground, and the AC legs are basically posts to connect the power transformer AC wires.   Right?

My question is - should the rectifier be secured to the board (like with hot glue) or should it be elevated from the board by a bit?

Thanks
rsr

If it feels secure, just leave it as is. If you want more secure then drill a hole through the board and use a screw and nut.

I've only used that style bridge in one build and it had all four legs connected to four turrets. Very secure. Like this...

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
