Removing capacitor guts?
« on: December 18, 2018, 04:33:30 am »
Anyone have experience removing capacitor guts from a chassis?  I have a Bass Mate that blew a bias cap long ago.  There is a thin hard pink substance that kind of looks like spilled koolaid in the chassis. Just wondering what's the best way to remove it.  It sprayed over the one socket.  Should I replace the socket?  I assume the substance is conducive?

Denatured alcohol and a variety of small brushes, cotton swabs, paper towels, etc. will probably clean that mess.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!
