Is space needed under components on PCB?
« on: April 21, 2020, 08:24:37 pm »
Hi,

I'll be soldering putting components on PCB for an amp project and wanted to know they they can lay flat on the board? Or should there be space underneath them?

Mainly talking about resistors, wire jumpers and lay down axial caps.

Most components can be mounted flat on the board. Any power resistors or other items that generate heat should have ample air space between the component or used with a proper heat sink. Otherwise, the pcb will cook.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

You are right.
