Ok, these guys (Littlefuse) were the enemy back in the day. However, Cooper and Eaton have gutted the once proud Bussmann company that I once knew.  We used to have a Fusology course that I helped teach that was very good.  I've long thrown all that stuff away and I can not find anything online so bah to them....  Here is yet another article from the enemy (Littlefuse) from 1965 that covers many of the same things from PRR's article, but also shows some time constant graphs which I've tried to explain here in the past when a fuse question comes up.  It takes the mystery out of the fast acting and slow blo designs - at least I think it does.  Some good info here as well.

Haha!  Just read Littlefuse' description of it's "Ceramic Anti-Vibration Fuse with Arc-Quenching Filler".  Wow!  I wonder what goes into the mysterious proprietary blend of "anti-vibration, arc-quenching filler"!!!!!!?????  Could it be unobtainium?  Cosmic dust?  Maybe even rare earth elements?!?!?  That is some great ad copy for..... sand.
