fun.. now that they are done! (tweed and marshall)
« on: April 23, 2020, 12:59:26 pm »
disfunction in the brain pan caused a very slow build on the marshall (1974x type.. red panel)
But they look nice together.
(tweed deluxe type 5D3 with some more mods. white panel)
both used used crate ss head cabs.
cost me under a 100 for those so pretty good compared to buying an empty cab with
no finish.https://imgur.com/GGpSD6s

I have them wired up to two epi vj cabs w. eminence legend 12".
So I can play either one very loudly in my living room.

Now that I am thinking of it.
I use a digitech rp500 (discontinued I think) w. stereo outs.
but it's noisy when I run stereo.

meanwhile I have an ab/y box I made which I can use and it's fine.
what do you think is up with that?

The nice thing about these two, to me.. is that I made the tweed break up way later on the dial.. for pedals!
but the 74X has only one input and it's hot.
I still love both of them with nothing in front at all!

It's the second or mic volume pot.. which interacts with the first vol pot.
It really doesn't do much on this amp, unless you plug straight in, and crank it up.
then it doesn't do much.. except if you turn the mic vol to 10 then it cuts volume overall.
Sort of a tonal range in a small area.
I gave it a C for Coleman or Character or Confusion.

I am going to build another, with all four inputs, to see if the stock version of the amp really does offer something useful with the extra volume pot. Maybe you have to do the channel connecting bit? I dunno!

yeah, i built a clone, it/they interact(s).  also good if you want to a/b with different effects in either channel, with separate volumes. mine was loud n proud, don't usually like those over compressed ratty sounding ones. to be clear, not saying yours sounds like that, yours sounds good.
